The AV 5500

The AV5500 is a mid-range scalable server.

The hardware

Category AV5500
Processor up to x boards @ 40MHz
88110 + 88410 on each board
Memory 2 memory controller boards, each can take 2 boards.
Each memory board has 8 slots. Each slot can take up to a 128MB
module.
Interfaces ???

The Innards

Hopefully this will become clearer as we progress (or we won't progress)...
SCSI
The SCSI is powered by the NCR 53C710 (SIOP). This is a pretty well-known chip.
Ethernet
The AMD 79C900 brother of the Am79C90 "lance" chipset. NetBSD has a machine-independent driver for this--just need to supply the machine-dependent glue.
Serial
Two Phillips/Signetics SCC2692 DUARTs and a SCN68562 DUART.
More from Jochen (the guy who gave me this information...
MK48T08 (RTC with CMOS RAM)
a big PGA module with two LSI L1A7980 and one unknown chip
LSI L1A7928
LSI L1B7465
DG ASCI, seems to be made by Fujitsu
MCM62110FN15-5 (8 pieces, seems to be cache RAM)
Xilinx FPGA/CPLD
second Ethernet on a card with a 79C900. The card has two 96 pin DIN connectors and is about 15cm to 17cm in size.
The last sounds like VME to me.

The Memory Map
